The Obsession breakout star clarified that she was never offered a role in the sequel to Michael Mann’s 1995 crime thriller, despite auditioning for the film.

“Is it true that you were offered Heat 2?” Buchanan asked, to which Navarrette replied, “No,” with a laugh.

“I’m glad that you brought it up because I can say it. No, I was not offered Heat 2,” the actress continued. “I auditioned, I want to say, for two months from April all the way up until — I don’t know if it had gotten cast, but it was just kind of no longer a conversation.”

“I remember I sent in multiple self tapes, different self tapes. I was like, ‘What do you like? What do you not like?’ I mean, it’s with an insane cast and even if it was as small of a character. I just wanted to learn. Definitely didn’t say no,” she added. “That’s one of those opportunities where no matter how big you get, you’re still gonna get told no.”

Speculation circulated that Navarette had passed on Heat 2 to take on X-Men after reports in July that Navarrette met with Mann and X-Men director Jake Schreier.

In August, Marvel unveiled the cast of its upcoming X-Men film, confirming that Navarrette will play Rogue. The cast also includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister.
