\nJohn Oliver\u2018s Last Week Tonight<\/em> last night went deep on Donald Trump\u2018s use of presidential pardon power. Spoiler alert: it has not been ethical or equitable. <\/p>\n

\n\tOne particular part of the full-30-minute dissection took a left turn \u2014 and took a buzzsaw to new BuzzFeed owner Byron Allen. No, the media mogul has not been on the receiving end of a Trump pardon \u2014 the only crime Allen has committed here is replacing Stephen Colbert\u2019s CBS late night show. <\/p>\n

\n\tOliver and Colbert are old buds, both from the Jon Stewart Daily Show<\/em> family tree. Allen is the comedian-turned-Weather Channel owner who now leases The Late Show<\/em>\u2018s vacated time slot from Paramount. His Comics Unleashed<\/em> is a pretty milquetoast panel show, inoffensive to Presidents and advertisers alike. Clearly, Oliver takes offense to what CBS has does with the 11:30 p.m. slot.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt took a while to get there, but Allen eventually got his. Mocking a pardoned Jan. 6 rioter, who was draped in a comically large scarf, Oliver commented, \u201cHe looks like what had happened if Steve Carell fucked Gru, which must be something that Steve\u2019s thought about, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDoesn\u2019t every voice actor wonder what it\u2019d be like to have sex with the cartoon character that they voice? I know I have,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve thought about what it would be like to fuck Vanity Smurf and what it would be like to fuck Zazu. It\u2019s not because I find it arousing, I don\u2019t, but you can\u2019t tell me that you wouldn\u2019t be curious what it\u2019d be like to fuck someone and hear your own voice coming out of their mouths. It\u2019ll be so strange.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt sure would be. Oliver voiced Vanity Smurf in 2011 film The Smurfs<\/em> and its 2013 sequel The Smurfs 2<\/em>, and Zazu the bird in 2019\u2019s The Lion King<\/em>. He\u2019s also voiced \u201cIan\u201d on a pair of Bob\u2019s Burgers<\/em> episodes, \u201cThumb Bringer\u201d in an episode of Love, Death & Robots<\/em>, \u201cWeather-Loving Winston\u201d on Helpsters<\/em>, \u201cHenry\u201d on Big Mouth<\/em>, \u201cSteve\u201d in Wonder Park<\/em>, \u201cAugustus P. Crumhorn IV\u201d on Danger Mouse<\/em>, \u201cBooth Wilkes-John\u201d on The Simpsons<\/em>, \u201cDr. Xenon Bloom\u201d on Rick and Morty<\/em>, and others.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd if you\u2019re thinking, \u2018Why would you find a cartoon character sexually attractive in the first place?\u2019 First, lots of people do, but that\u2019s not what this thought exercise is asking, really,\u201d Oliver said. \u201cFor the record, I don\u2019t find either of these characters attractive, but let\u2019s suppose there was a universe where I did, and they found me attractive \u2014 could I go through with it if they sounded exactly like me? Because it\u2019s not like I\u2019d be fucking myself, is it? I\u2019d be fucking someone else that just has my voice. How would that feel? How would I react if, mid-coitus, I heard my own pleasure moments coming out of Zazu\u2019s beak? Would it ruin the whole thing? Would I somehow enjoy it? And if so, does that make me a narcissist?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt would definitely make you\u2026 something.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAlso, would it be weird for them? Because to Vanity Smurf and Zazu, I have their voices, don\u2019t I? So, could they<\/em> do it?\u201d he went on. \u201cOf course, they\u2019re cartoon characters. This could just be me projecting my own humanity onto a Smurf and a talking bird when they exist on their own planes of morality and biological impulse that don\u2019t necessarily conform to what we\u2019d say is right or wrong, you know? After a lot of thought and consideration, ultimately I think I would<\/em> be able to power through and have sex with Vanity Smurf and Zazu, but I\u2019d feel really guilty about it afterwards, and I\u2019m not totally sure why.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnyway, I would love to talk about this more, but we don\u2019t have time,\u201d Oliver said, \u201cso I\u2019ll just conclude by saying this: Let\u2019s see Byron Allen do that<\/em> on Comics Unleashed<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIf Allen did, FCC chair Brendan Carr would have an actual late night problem on its hands, and not just some petty personal beef with Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\n
