\nKevin Hart is addressing the backlash to jokes made at Netflix\u2018s Roast of Kevin Hart,<\/em> particularly those made by Tony Hinchcliffe.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the roast earlier this month, Hinchcliffe took jabs at many of the guests, including Hart, but he faced criticism for a joke referencing George Floyd, who was murdered by police in 2020. \u201cThe Black community is so proud of you,\u201d Hinchcliffe said of Hart. \u201cRight now, George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can\u2019t breathe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday, Hart appeared on The Breakfast Club<\/em>, where he shared his thoughts on Hinchcliffe\u2019s backlash.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYeah, the George Floyd joke, it wasn\u2019t a tasteful joke to our culture, to our audience, but our audience that\u2019s watching the roast, if you\u2019re watching the roast, you get why they\u2019re doing it. You get why the racial humor is on the table,\u201d Hart said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t shocked. That\u2019s what they do. Go look at [The Roast of] Tom Brady, like, that\u2019s what they do. It happens every year when they do a roast. It\u2019s not new.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked if he thought the joke went \u201ctoo far,\u201d Hart responded: \u201cIt\u2019s Tony Hinchcliffe. I don\u2019t expect less. I don\u2019t expect more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTony Hinchcliffe arguably had the best set or one of the best sets,\u201d he said. \u201cPete [Davidson] had a great set, too. Pete had a Charlie Kirk joke in it. Like, would I tell those jokes? No. But do I get why they\u2019re being told? Yes. I\u2019m not looking at Pete crazy. I\u2019m not looking at Tony. That\u2019s what I know what you\u2019re going to do. I know your style of comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHart also pleaded with audiences not to blame him for the jokes made during the roast.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhatever the dialogue is, my rebuttal is simplicity. Remove me from it. I didn\u2019t say it. If you are upset that the night went on, that\u2019s a different conversation. It\u2019s nothing I could do. It\u2019s a production,\u201d he said, later adding, \u201cStop talking as if I said it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the roast, George Floyd\u2019s brother, Terrence Floyd, criticized Hart for not interjecting when Hinchcliffe told the joke. He previously told Breakfast Club<\/em> host Loren LoRosa that Hart should have brought \u201cWill Smith energy\u201d and pushed back on Hinchcliffe\u2019s joke.<\/p>\n

\n\tChelsea Handler, who was also among the night\u2019s roasters, later slammed Hinchcliffe and Shane Gillis, the host of The Roast of Kevin Hart<\/em>, calling them \u201cracist,\u201d \u201cbigots\u201d and \u201csexist.\u201d<\/p>\n
