\nJoe Keery and Lily Rabe will also appear in the revival of Jon Robin Baitz\u2019s play, directed by John Benjamin Hickey. Other Desert Cities<\/em> will play a 16-week limited engagement at Broadway\u2019s Hudson Theatre, with previews starting Sept. 29 ahead of an Oct. 18 opening night. The limited engagement will end Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe play centers on a politically connected family whose Christmas Eve is upended when their daughter reveals she has written a tell-all book about a family tragedy that they have tried to keep secret. The play premiered off-Broadway in January 2011 and transferred that year. It was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for drama.<\/p>\n

\n\tHickey made his Broadway directing debut with Plaza Suite, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had, more or less, talked myself out of imagining Other Desert Cities<\/em> back in New York. But John Hickey is family to me, and I trust him completely. We go back longer than I ever imagined: he hears a play \u2013 its ideas, its feeling, its music \u2013 with an intelligence and knowingness that anchors a room. And with this company of actors, a playwright dreams about, I thought that if there were still something alive in it, they would find it. What\u2019s slightly unnerving is that nearly 20 years later, through all the fractures and divisions, the questions remain the same: how to live with who we are and what we\u2019ve done and call that a life,\u201d Baitz said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe cast brings together Dreyfus, an 11-time Emmy Award winner, with four-time Academy Award winner Harris and two-time Tony Award nominee, Academy Award winner and seven-time Emmy Winner Janney. Keery makes his Broadway debut after his breakout role in Netflix\u2019s Stranger Things<\/em>. Rabe, who was previously Tony nominated for her role as Portia in \u00a0The Merchant of Venice<\/em>, returns to Broadway after recently appearing in the TV series Shrinking<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
