His company also stated that it\u2019s dealing with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission \u201cto resolve their inquiries,\u201d confirming the probes at both agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWalter\u2019s company said of the terms of the deal for the NBA team, \u201cRegarding the proposed sale of the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.5 billion, Mr. Walter was approached by Josh Kushner and his team about this transaction and the agreement represents a 25% premium to the price paid by Mr. Walter less than a year ago (and an even higher premium to the $5.0 billion valuation Mr. Walter paid in 2021) \u2014 hardly a \u2018fire sale.&#8217;\u201d The Lakers were valued at $10 billion at the time of Walter\u2019s buy, which was approved by the NBA\u2019s board of governors only in October 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=5988\">Rupert Grint to Join Broadway Cast of \u2018Harry Potter and the Cursed Child\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tAs to Walter\u2019s crown jewel MLB team: \u201cRegarding the Los Angeles Dodgers, to be clear, the team is not being sold and no sale process has been initiated,\u201d TWG Global stated. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tWalter\u2019s Guggenheim group had acquired the Dodgers and Dodgers Stadium from owner Frank McCourt in 2012 in a $2.15 billion deal and embarked on a rebuilding push that led to its championships. TWG said of the Dodgers acquisition, \u201cThe allegation that the Los Angeles Dodgers were acquired or have been funded improperly is false and not supported by the facts.\u201d And, it added, \u201cThe Dodgers have the highest revenue in baseball, and it significantly exceeds the team\u2019s obligations to its players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTWG also has ownership stakes in the WNBA\u2019s L.A. Sparks, football club Chelsea F.C., the Cadillac Formula 1 team, the Professional Women\u2019s Hockey League, tennis\u2019 Billie Jean King Cup as well as multiple motosports investments.
