But in 2001, co-creators\u00a0Matt Stone\u00a0and\u00a0Trey Parker\u00a0killed the hooded fourth-grader for good with a slow, painful death related to a muscular disease. Stone said at the time it was an \u201ceasy decision.\u201d \u201cI think a lot of people probably haven\u2019t noticed,\u201d Stone said at the time. \u201cI couldn\u2019t care less. Series creator\u00a0Josh Schwartz\u00a0later\u00a0said the decision to kill Marissa\u00a0was purely a creative one: \u201cIt had as much to do with creatively feeling like this was always in the cards for this character and she was an inherently tragic heroine, and part of the Ryan\/Marissa story was him trying to save her from a fate that she couldn\u2019t be rescued from.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Rita Morgan, \u2018Dexter\u2019<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n\tJulie Benz\u2019s Rita Morgan was \u2014 until the series finale claimed Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) \u2014 the biggest victim in the life of serial-killer-with-a-code Dexter Morgan. After going head-to-head with\u00a0John\u00a0Lithgow\u2019s Emmy-winning Trinity Killer, Dexter\u2019s (Michael C. For viewers unfamiliar with the video game who merely tuned in to the hit HBO series, Joel dying may have come as a surprise, though die-hard fans knew Abby would avenge her father\u2019s death.
