\nThe Flintstones<\/em> is getting ready to rock the big screen again. <\/p>\n

\nWarner Bros. is developing a live-action The Flintstones<\/em> feature that Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson are set to produce for their Open Invite banner, The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> has confirmed. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis project is still in early development and is currently seeking a screenwriter. Although planned plot details have not yet been shared, the story is said to focus on Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the son of Fred Flintstone\u2019s good pal Barney Rubble.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe property began its life as The Flintstones<\/em>, an animated ABC series from Hanna-Barbera Productions that launched in 1960 and ran for six seasons. Set in the Stone Age, it centered on Fred and Wilma Flintstone, pet dinosaur Dino and their best friends Barney and Betty Rubble. <\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal released a live-action The Flintstones<\/em> movie in 1994 that starred John Goodman as Fred and Rick Moranis as Barney, with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer. The film earned $340 million globally and spawned 2000 prequel The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas<\/em>, which did not see the cast return. <\/p>\n

\n\tNews broke in 2021 that Fox was developing Bedrock<\/em>, an animated sequel series to The Flintstones<\/em> that had cast Elizabeth Banks to voice Fred and Wilma\u2019s daughter, Pebbles. The show was announced as dead a few years later. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt wasn\u2019t something I wanted at the time,\u201d Goodman previously told THR<\/em> about Spielberg having handpicked him to play Fred. \u201cHe cast me in a couple of movies, and then when we were sitting down to read [1989\u2019s]\u00a0Always<\/em>\u00a0for the first time, he made the announcement, which surprised me. Nobody asked me, but it worked out. It was perfect at the time, and I love Rick Moranis. He\u2019s just a lovely man and so funny and smart.\u201d<\/p>\n
