\nHulu has decided not to renew the Mindy Kaling-created series Not Suitable for Work<\/em> for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>has learned.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedy series, which premiered in June and ran for nine episodes, starred Ella Hunt (AJ), Avantika Vandanapu (Abby), Will Angus (Davis), Jack Martin (Josh), Nicholas Duvernay (Kel) and Jay Ellis (Bill). It centered on \u201cfive work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan\u2019s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill,\u201d per the show\u2019s logline.<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. Television, which produced Not Suitable for Work<\/em>, plans to shop the show around for a potential new home.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen THR<\/em> chatted with Martin about the show in June, he said he wanted a role in Not Suitable for Work<\/em> the minute he learned about the show. \u201cI really wanted to be in it, and I just got really lucky,\u201d he said after getting cast as Josh. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs for Hunt, after getting the role of AJ, she told THR<\/em>, \u201cBeing part of the Mindy-verse was exciting to me.\u201d When Duvernay, who scored the role of Kel, first read the pilot, he \u201cthought it was hilarious and refreshing\u201d because \u201ca lot of the comedies put out nowadays are so angled at Gen Z to the point where it\u2019s like scrolling on Instagram.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt has that vintage \u2026 not to make the comparison, but from the jump, it\u2019s always had a bit of a\u00a0Friends<\/em>\u00a0vibe,\u201d he added during a previous interview with THR<\/em>. \u201cThat\u2019s a giant to compare it to, but that\u2019s initially how I felt being part of it. It has a more modern take on it. It\u2019s work-obsessed kids trying to make their way in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n
