The filmmaker is staying in the Blumhouse Atomic Monster business, and will direct <em>Sleepover <\/em>for the company after helming last weekend\u2019s <em>Insidious: Out of the Further<\/em>. The plot is being kept under wraps, but is described as the \u201cquintessential sleepover nightmare\u201d and is based on an original short story by McGuire.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe announcement comes after <em>Out of the Further <\/em>opened to $25.3 million domestically, a solid start for the sixth installment of the franchise. Chase has been in the Blumhouse Atomic Monster business for several years, developing various properties before <em>Out of the Further<\/em> emerged. He previously directed the feature <em>Come Play, <\/em>an Amblin Partners. The feature bowed at the Halloween box office in October 2020 and was based on his own 2017 short about a parking lot attendant haunted by a monster who emerges from touchscreen gagets.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCinescape Entertainment\u00a0is behind <em>Sleepover<\/em>, working with Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal. Jason Blum is producing w,th Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira serve as executive producers. Said the filmmaker: \u201cLook, I know it\u2019s the sixth\u00a0<em>Insidious<\/em>\u00a0movie.\u00a0<em>Who cares? It\u2019s just a franchise movie<\/em>. But we didn\u2019t treat it that way. I really treated\u00a0<em>Out of the Further<\/em>\u00a0like I was trying to make the\u00a0<em>Citizen Kane<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Insidious<\/em>\u00a0movies, and it felt that way on set.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tChase is repped by CAA, Gang Tyre, and The Initiative Group.
