\n\tLesley Vogel, Hayden Panettiere\u2019s mom, is slamming Gayle King after the CBS Mornings<\/em> host criticized her response to her daughter\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was very, very hurt and deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism, the lack of compassion in slamming someone who\u2019s lost two children, without even a modicum of consideration,\u201d Vogel said during a recent interview with the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/em>\u00a0regarding King\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo one reached out to me before,\u201d she added. \u201cIt\u2019s shameful. It\u2019s unconscionable to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe Hollywood Reporter<\/em> has reached out to CBS Mornings<\/em> for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere, an actress known for her roles in Heroes<\/em>, Nashville<\/em> and the Scream <\/em>franchise, died last Sunday at age 36. Following her death, Vogel spoke to NBC News<\/em> on Tuesday, where she criticized her daughter\u2019s on-again-off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson and felt her daughter \u201clost her way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments and I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry \u2014 it is a struggle and it\u2019s a very challenging industry and it\u2019s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVogel added, \u201cI think Hayden sadly lost her way and I wish it were different. I wish she had stayed true to herself because she had many incredible attributes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe following day, during Wednesday\u2019s CBS Mornings<\/em> broadcast, King criticized Vogel for focusing too much on her daughter\u2019s struggles amid her death. \u201cYou know, guys, you read this and all I can think is, \u2018Thanks, mom, for nothing,’\u201d the host said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt makes me so sad of the opportunity that you have after your daughter\u2019s death that that\u2019s what you choose to leave us with,\u201d King added.<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere had been open about her estranged relationship with her mother, who also served as her manager when she was growing up in the industry. In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>, the actress detailed the pressure she felt from Vogel.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring an interview with THR<\/em> in May, Panettiere also opened up about the challenges of delving into her childhood and relationship with her mom when writing This Is Me<\/em>. \u201cHaving to touch on everything about my relationship with my mother, that was one of the harder things to talk about,\u201d Panettiere said. \u201cWhile writing it, I realized even more so how much of a toll it took on me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nPage Six<\/em> reported in May that Vogel had chosen the \u201cno-contact route\u201d with Panettiere after \u201c20 years of trauma\u201d and on the advice of professionals.<\/p>\n

\n\tHer son and Panettiere\u2019s younger brother also died in February 2023 at the age of 28.<\/p>\n
