{"id":5579,"date":"2026-08-19T09:09:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T09:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=5579"},"modified":"2026-08-19T09:09:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T09:09:14","slug":"oscars-czech-republic-picks-doc-if-pigeons-turned-to-gold-as-best-intl-feature-submission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=5579","title":{"rendered":"Oscars: Czech Republic Picks Doc \u2018If Pigeons Turned to Gold\u2019 as Best Int\u2019l Feature Submission"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n\tPepa Ljubojacki\u2019s intimate documentary <em>If Pigeons Turned to Gold<\/em> is the Czech Republic\u2019s submission for the best international feature film category at the Oscars 2027. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=5577\">Sandra Wollner and \u2018Everytime\u2019 Hit Sarajevo on the Festival Circuit: \u201cYou Can Feel the History Here\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA) unveiled the Czech candidate for the international Oscar on Wednesday. \u201cIn the intimate and formally original documentary feature, the director followed for five years the fortunes of her brother and two cousins whose addictions were slowly destroying their relationships, homes and their feeling of safety,\u201d the academy said. \u201cUsing DIY aesthetics, the director interlinks diary shots, stylized memories, live photos as well as graphic collages and, without any sentiment, tries to understand the reasons for their fall and also the impact of it on the whole family.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe film had its world premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the award for the best documentary feature, as well as the independent Caligari prize. The film will debut in Czech cinemas at the end of September.
