\nAnne Hathaway believes that films that include storylines about dogs dying should come with an R rating. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview with Complex<\/em>, the Oscar winner admitted she\u2019d seen speculation about the fate of the dog, Starbuck, in The End of Oak Street<\/em>. \u201cI feel like movies that kill dogs should automatically be rated R. Doesn\u2019t matter if anybody curses, it doesn\u2019t matter if there\u2019s violence, if a dog dies, R-rated,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSomebody was like, \u2018Can you just let the audiences know that, like, it\u2019s all gonna be OK?\u2019 We break rules in this movie, that might not be one of them. Don\u2019t worry,\u201d she continued. \u201cI think everybody\u2019s so traumatized by\u00a0John Wick<\/em>, because I\u2019ve been seeing those [comments about The End of Oak Street<\/em>] too, like, \u2018They better not kill the dog.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\n\tShe added, \u201cI\u2019m like, which movies are out there killing dogs that everybody\u2019s scared that we\u2019re just casually doing it in movies now?\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe End of Oak Street<\/em> stars Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as parents whose family is suddenly shifted to a location inhabited by dinosaurs. The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s chief film critic David Rooney commended her performance in his review, writing, \u201cHathaway, on the other hand, is the essential glue holding the film together. Denise \u2014 a name that kept making me wish this were an all-out schlocky B-movie with Denise Richards \u2014 is basically an Anne Tyler character in a Michael Crichton novel. She\u2019s a woman looking around now that her kids are growing up and acknowledging her lack of fulfillment, feelings expressed in a novel she\u2019s secretly been writing, in which the protagonist keeps a suitcase packed in the hope she might one day run away from her suffocating life as a wife and mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new film adds to Hathaway\u2019s jam-packed year, as she\u2019s already starred in The Odyssey<\/em>,\u00a0Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Mother Mary<\/em>. She has another film still on her schedule for 2026, that of an adaptation of Colleen Hoover\u2019s\u00a0Verity<\/em>, due in October. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I got my schedule for this year from all the wonderful film studios that I\u2019ve worked with, I saw it and I kind of thought I was being punked,\u201d Hathaway told THR<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0The End of Oak Street<\/em>\u00a0premiere. \u201cBut then they showed me that no, no, no, all these [release] dates were going to hold and I just said as long as audiences don\u2019t get sick of my face \u2014 which I wouldn\u2019t blame them, I would not blame them if they did \u2014 let\u2019s go.\u201d<\/p>\n
