D\u2019Amaro noted that ESPN had its most watched fiscal Q3 in a decade, thanks to big increases for the NBA Finals and the NHL\u2019s Stanley Cup Final.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cAs we evolve D+ we\u2019ll continue to bring select premium sports events to the platform,\u201d D\u2019Amaro said on a call with investment analysts. \u201cLive sports aren\u2019t just a viewership play, they\u2019re a fan engagement and ecosystem play. When a sports fan engages with ESPN, Disney+ or our parks, their lifetime value [to Disney] increases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe uptick in sports content on Disney+ will begin in the fall, with an increase in simulcasts of college football games from recent years. The streamer will continue to simulcast ESPN\u2019s <em>College Gameday<\/em> pregame show. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=4941\">Disney Is \u201cExploring\u201d Launching Its Own FAST Offering<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cOur strategy on Disney+ is to bring additional sports content to Disney+ users and drive additional upsell into Disney+, Hulu and the ESPN Unlimited bundle,\u201d CFO Hugh Johnston said on the call. \u201cYou can expect us to lean in in all of these areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tD\u2019Amaro also noted that the continued roiling of the media business \u2014\u00a0including Comcast\u2019s plans to spin off NBCUniversal and Fox\u2019s acquisition of Roku \u2014\u00a0could be opportunities for Disney to strengthen its business. <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cA more consolidated industry is a better investment backdrop,\u201d said D\u2019Amaro. \u201cWe have a long history of partnering in streaming, and we believe we can keep building on that. \u2026 The real differentiator is our ability to segment the marketplace through bundling in a way that I don\u2019t think our competitors can really do, at least domestically. If you look at customers who\u2019ve been with us for a similar length of time, retention improves the further up the ladder they go from a single product up to a dual bundle to the trio bundle.
