\nBen Affleck and Jeopardy! <\/em>champ Jamie Ding are the latest celebrity winners of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor-writer-director and his partner on the ABC game show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, won the top prize of $1 million on Wednesday night\u2019s edition, with the funds going to Affleck\u2019s longtime charity, the Eastern Congo Initiative.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pair began this week\u2019s episode with only two questions left after beginning their march to $1 million last week.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe $500,000 question was: \u201cWhat achievement occurred just two months after a New York Times<\/em> article said it wouldn\u2019t happen for \u20181 million to 10 million years\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Affleck and Ding thought the correct answer was option C, the first airplane flight.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI only remember this because it was a time in my life where I spent time looking up examples that the press got things wrong. Yeah, just randomly,\u201d Affleck, whose personal life has long served as fodder for tabloid gossip, said with a light laugh. \u201cAnd I sort of, vaguely, in my subconscious remember the Times<\/em> and the Wright brothers and that whole thing was 1905, 3 or 4, or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, Affleck and Ding used their 50-50 lifeline, which left the first flight along with splitting the atom as possible answers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople don\u2019t go outside and look at the sky and dream of splitting the atom, but we all dream of flying,\u201d Ding said, with Affleck ultimately trusting his teammate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy man, I came here with you,\u201d he told Ding, putting his arm around him. \u201cTake us. I\u2019m with you. If that\u2019s how you feel, let\u2019s do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel, revealing the answer, said, \u201cJamie, let me tell you what you did get right. 1903 was exactly the year that the Wright brothers flew an airplane into the sky and those cynical, disbelieving, bastards at The New York Times<\/em>, I guess they just didn\u2019t believe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe million-dollar question concerned the Thanksgiving tradition of the president pardoning two turkeys. The question asked, \u201cAll but which of these have been the names of turkeys pardoned by a U.S. president?\u201d

The possible answers were Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tater & Tot, Mac & Cheese and Spaghetti & Meatball.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tInitially lost, Affleck and Ding first asked Kimmel, with Affleck observing, \u201cThis is the person that would actually be paying attention to every pardoned turkey\u2019s name. Probably the best person in the world to ask this question to.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI do a bit about this on the show. Every year,\u201d Kimmel noted, adding that it seemed unlikely Spaghetti and Meatball were the names of the turkeys.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI could see me adding a big bowl in Donald Trump\u2019s hands and him slurping up the spaghetti and meatballs,\u201d Kimmel joked. \u201cThat one sounds like it wasn\u2019t the one to me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDing and Affleck then decided to phone one of Ding\u2019s friends just in case. But he wasn\u2019t able to answer in time.<\/p>\n

\n\tUltimately, the pair went with Kimmel\u2019s instinct. Though it took a moment before the answer was revealed, leaving Affleck and Ding looking nervous, they were ultimately correct and celebrated their win with a hug as confetti rained down.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith their win, Affleck and Ding join past million-dollar-winning celeb duos Matt Damon and Jeopardy! <\/em>champ Ken Jennings, Ike and Alan Barinholtz and Oscar Nu\u00f1ez and Kate Flannery.<\/p>\n
