TV and Fox executive Mike Darnell has signed an overall deal with the streamer. Under the multi-year deal, Darnell will develop and produce unscripted series and also provide what Netflix is calling \u201cstrategic creative guidance\u201d on its larger unscripted slate. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=4604\">Spider-Man: The Last Blockbuster Franchise Nobody\u2019s Managed to Screw Up<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe advisory role could be key, as Netflix\u2019s previous head of unscripted series, Jeff Gaspin, departed that role at the beginning of July (he\u2019ll still be involved with several Netflix unscripted shows, including a <em>Monopoly<\/em> competition series and <em>Age of Attraction<\/em>, as a producer). <\/p>\n<p>\n\tDarnell was president of unscripted television at Warner Bros. TV for 10 years before stepping down in 2023. Prior to that, he spent almost two decades at Fox, overseeing the network\u2019s slate of reality series and specials. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=4602\">\u2018House of the Dragon\u2019 Star Fabien Frankel Finally Gets His Flowers<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tUnder Darnell, Fox\u2019s unscripted division produced hits including <em>American Idol, Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/em> and <em>So You Think You Can Dance<\/em> and provocative (not always in a good way) series and specials including <em>When Animals Attack, Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire?<\/em> and <em>The Swan<\/em>. At Warners, notable shows and specials launched during his tenure included <em>Ellen\u2019s Game of Games, Friends: The Reunion<\/em> and <em>Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses<\/em>. Darnell also shepherded <em>The Bachelor<\/em> franchise and <em>The Voice<\/em>, both of which debuted before his arrival at WBTV.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDarnell seemed to revel in his image as a provocateur.
