\n\tWhile chatting with People<\/em> at Comic-Con 2026 over the weekend, Anthony and Joe Russo said they already knew Downey Jr. was perfect for the villain role after early conversations with him. But once they heard the voice the Oscar winner had crafted for the character from the\u00a0Fantastic Four\u00a0<\/em>comics, that\u2019s when their decision was solidified.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat was something that Robert surprised us with one day,\u201d Anthony recalled. \u201cYou know, we were talking about all the details of the character \u2014 the voice, of course, is a key part of it, especially in the mask.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo one day I think it was in the trailer, we were just sort of talking about some ideas and he broke out into the voice. And we knew at that moment, that was it,\u201d the filmmaker continued.<\/p>\n

\n\tJoe added that he got \u201cchills\u201d when he initially heard the Doctor Doom voice. It also reminded him of another iconic Downey Jr. scene from 2019\u2019s\u00a0Avengers: Endgame<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI mean, it was one of those moments. It\u2019d probably be one of the more memorable moments \u2014 that and the \u2018I Am Iron Man\u2019 [scene] when he snapped his fingers,\u201d Joe says of the fan-favorite sequence. <\/em>\u201cRobert tends to present a lot of those super memorable moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe upcoming film\u2019s stacked cast includes many Marvel superheroes from the legacy Avengers and X-Men to the Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four. They\u2019re all expected to team up to face off against Doctor Doom.<\/p>\n
