\n\tA crime feature starring Tiffany Haddish is set to make a splash in theaters. <\/p>\n

\n\tSamuel Goldwyn Films\u00a0has acquired The Girl in the River<\/em> and will release the thriller in theaters and on digital platforms Sept. 4, The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>has learned. Maggie Grace, Devon Sawa and Ralph Macchio round out the cast for writer-director Brando Benetton\u2019s movie. <\/p>\n

\nThe Girl in the River<\/em> centers on an experienced criminologist and a young psychologist who head to a small Mississippi town after a girl is murdered and her twin sister goes missing. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI know you want to retire, but yesterday, two twin sisters disappeared,\u201d Haddish says in the trailer. \u201cTheir father \u2014 his political authority is absolute. We\u2019ve already found the body. If we don\u2019t find her sister in the next 24 hours, she won\u2019t be back at all.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLater, Sawa laments the challenges inherent with the crime. \u201cWe have too many leads, no real suspects,\u201d he says in the footage. He goes on to add, \u201cJust because you think someone\u2019s a killer doesn\u2019t mean they are one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer ends with Haddish declaring, \u201cYou\u2019re not ready to confront what real evil looks like.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBrando Benetton helmed the project from his own script. Joe Lemmon and Andrew Stevens serve as producers for the indie film. <\/p>\n

\n\tExecutive producers include Hicham Benkirane, Alan B. Bursteen, Dawn Bursteen, Rick Moore, Alessandro Penazzi, Jeff Roschman and Sam Stevens. <\/p>\n

\n\tHaddish\u2019s latest feature credits include Bad Boys: Ride or Die<\/em>, Haunted Mansion<\/em>, Easter Sunday<\/em> and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent<\/em>. <\/p>\n
