This earned him two titles.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=4002\">\u2018Other Mommy\u2019 Trailer: Jessica Chastain Returns to Horror as a Body-Twisting Doppelganger<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tWhat may not be well known is who exactly he took the title from, and which other comics around the world and from decades past have come close to matching this feat.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGillis, the fired <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> cast member who threw off the shame of that early-career rejection to become one of the most popular podcasters in the nation, is the new title-holder for largest audience for a comedian, and also for most tickets sold for a comedy show by a solo comedian. The second title represents a brand-new category Guinness created specifically around this event, with 54,000 set as the bar to clear.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor 18 years, up until Friday night, the Guinness World Records attendance record belonged to German comedian Mario Barth. The comic, also known as the \u201cTattoo Artist to the Stars\u201d for having inked Sylvester Stallone, Tommy Lee, and Lenny Kravitz, was known for his rapid-fire observational humor. The Austria-born German comic performed for 67,733 people at Berlin\u2019s Olympiastadion on July 12, 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut Barth\u2019s is not the only recent title to fall to a modern comic. And forget working on your \u201ctight five\u201d \u2014 start thinking like Benny Elbows, who set the record for longest solo stand-up show at 40 hours, 16 minutes, 48 seconds, in Memphis in April 2025, after being inspired by a group attempt.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSpeaking of marathons of comedy, DeeOne, a Nigerian comic, tickled the crowd at a solo gig that lasted 52 straight hours in Lagos. The aim here was to best Elbows \u2014 even though Guinness hadn\u2019t officially confirmed it yet.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tActually, when you look at it, there seems to be quite a competitive streak when it comes to marathons of comedy. Comic Strip Live had hundreds of comedians taking part to set a 50-hour record back in 2008; that was then bested two years later by The Laugh Factory, who bumped the threshold to 80 hours straight. Five years later, NashvilleStandUp.com \u2014 being total stinkers here \u2014 eventually pushed it to 80 hours and five minutes, in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThey will be bested because it\u2019s easy \u2014 just add five minutes, or a little more than the last guys to do it. The one that will be difficult to clear is Gillis\u2019 \u2014 a comic would have to reach his sky-high level of fame, while having that Gillis mass appeal, and that would have to spur a promoter to take a huge risk on a one-man stadium show.
