He praises Matt Damon as Odysseus and Robert Pattinson as Antinous and Tom Holland as Telemachus and has little issue with Zendaya as Athena and Lupita Nyong\u2019o as Helen of Troy.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI know a lot of people were like, \u2018Oh my God, Lupita Nyong\u2019o is supposed to look like Diane Kruger.\u2019 I don\u2019t know. Diane Kruger doesn\u2019t look very Greek. She\u2019s German,\u201d Shapiro pushes back. Rapper Travis Scott as Bard is a bit jarring, but he has a small part. And Zendaya not looking especially Greek doesn\u2019t bother Shapiro in the least.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cCasting Zendaya in that role doesn\u2019t change anything \u2026 Zendaya does a fine job, doesn\u2019t bother me at all,\u201d he adds. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut Shapiro takes issue with Elliot Page as Sinon.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI know there are a lot of conservatives who are getting pre-whipped up about the film. Because it\u2019s stupid to cast Elliot Page as a dude. It\u2019s just stupid,\u201d Shapiro declares. It doesn\u2019t work,\u201d Shapiro argues,personally criticizing Page, who came out as trans in 2020. In fact, he can\u2019t get over casting Page at all.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s an unforced error. Now I\u2019m not going to speculate as to why Nolan did this,\u201d Shapiro says, before doing just that as he begins spinning conspiracy theories popular among podcasters. \u201cMaybe he\u2019s personally friendly with Elliot Page, feels bad for Elliot Page, because Elliot Page is a certain person, was friends of that person from the time they did they did <em>Inception <\/em>together. Maybe it\u2019s in fact some sort of Oscar bait attempt.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut conservatives should still go out to the multiplex to see <em>The Odyssey, <\/em>and not wish it a death at the box office with Page in the cast. \u201cNo, the movie\u2019s not going to bomb because of that. It turns out that when people are willing to be entertained, they\u2019re willing to entertain even bad flaws in the teeth, if it turns out the smile is nice,\u201d Shapiro concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSo conservatives, whatever their outrage, should not dismiss <em>The Odyssey<\/em>, without first seeing it. \u201cThe broader theme of the movie is actually very much in line with many things that conservatives think.
