\n\tBut when on set, Quentin Tarantino made it clear who was calling the shots. <\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a People<\/em> interview, co-star Bruce Dern gave at Cannes, the Oscar winners had a tense exchange while working on the blockbuster film.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the movie, Dern plays blind ranch owner George Spahn. During one scene, Pitt\u2019s Booth wakes up Spahn to check and see if he\u2019s OK. Dern says he improvised a line.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen Brad Pitt wakes me up in\u00a0Once Upon a Time in Hollywood<\/em>, I\u2019m in the bed and I get up and I\u2019m a little groggy and stuff and I just say, \u2018I\u2019m not really sure what\u2019s going on,’\u201d Dern said. \u201cI\u2019m looking at him. [Pitt] cut the camera. He cut the camera.\u201d (Meaning, Pitt told the camera crew to stop recording). <\/p>\n

\n\tContinued Dern: \u201cThe look on Quentin\u2019s face \u2014 I mean, he was insanely grave \u2014 and he said, \u2018Brad, what did you just do?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c[Pitt] said, \u2018Well, I cut the camera.\u2019 [Tarantino] said, \u2018Never again in your life will you ever cut a camera or you\u2019ll be dead in this business. That\u2019s my domain. Don\u2019t stop behavior.\u2019 So then we went on and did the scene and all Brad did was say to him, \u2018Well, that wasn\u2019t in the script what he said.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe team went on filming, and Dern improvised a different line, \u201cI don\u2019t know who you are, but you touched me today. You came to visit me, now I gotta go back to sleep.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tDern was at Cannes to premiere director Mike Mendez\u2019s documentary\u00a0Dernsie<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tRepresentatives for Tarantino and Pitt had no immediate comment. <\/p>\n

\n\tDern and Pitt had worked with Tarantino before. Dern previously worked with Tarantino in 2012\u2019s Django Unchained<\/em> and 2015\u2019s The Hateful Eight<\/em>, while Pitt worked with the director on 2009\u2019s Inglourious Basterds<\/em> (in addition, Pitt had a small role in 1993\u2019s underrated True Romance<\/em>, which was written by Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott). <\/p>\n

\n\tPitt will reprise his Cliff Booth character in Netflix\u2019s as-yet-untitled spin-off to Once Upon a Time<\/em>, which is written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. The film will receive a two-week exclusive engagement in Imax starting Nov. 25.<\/p>\n
