\nHayden Panettiere is recalling an incident in which an Oscar winner once exposed himself to her at a party when she was 19 years old.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress, now 36, opened up about the encounter in her new memoir,\u00a0This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>, saying she had attended a party at a private apartment with a friend, but later grew increasingly uncomfortable after chatting with a group of men at the gathering.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs she was getting ready to leave, she claimed a \u201cwell-respected\u201d and \u201cOscar-winning actor and director,\u201d whom she doesn\u2019t name in her memoir, approached her when she was putting on her coat. It was his next actions that left her \u201cshocked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere said in her book that the man pointed to his pants, claiming he had chewing gum stuck to them. \u201cI looked down and recoiled,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThis well-respected, award-winning actor\u2019s testicles were hanging out from his unzipped fly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Scream<\/em> star said she wasn\u2019t physically harmed by the interaction, but was definitely left startled. \u201cThe gum on the pants, however, was a head-scratcher,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIt hadn\u2019t hurt me and I was sure it was a drunken joke, but I\u2019d never seen a grown man do something like that. I was shocked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere admitted that she didn\u2019t tell her friend who she attended the party with about the incident as she felt \u201cthe moment had passed,\u201d adding that she came to the conclusion \u201csome older men had just grown up with no manners.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>, which hit bookstands on May 19, the Nashville<\/em> actress gets candid about her past trauma, the realities of child stardom, substance abuse and her path to recovery, among other personal and professional struggles.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of its release, Panettiere spoke with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, sharing why she chose to name some celebrities in her memoir, but keep others anonymous, such as the Oscar winner.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was a bad look for them and [the people I didn\u2019t name] were generally people within my industry,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019re people I could run into again. I didn\u2019t want to put myself in that position. Things happened a long time ago, but it was to protect me and my company from being sued by some very pissed-off famous people.\u201d<\/p>\n
