\nNBCUniversal has greenlit Summer House Canada,<\/em> the first international adaptation of the hit Bravo reality series, now ten seasons in stateside, with production underway in southern Ontario.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 10-part Canadian version of Summer House <\/em>from Vancouver-based indie Lark Productions will launch exclusively on NBCUniversal\u2019s reality streaming platform Hayu in 2027. Mirroring the original format,\u00a0Summer House Canada\u00a0<\/em>will bring together a group of friends escaping to a shared house on summer weekends, with no word yet on cast members for the local version.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Canadian reality series promises the same blend of relationship, career and personal lives collisions \u2014 including whispers and stolen glances \u2014 that has made Summer House <\/em>a hit on Bravo. The local version will take place amid forested landscapes and lakeside cottages in Muskoka, Ontario, where wealthy Torontonians get away to to escape the stress of big city life.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe southern Ontario region is also a major shooting location for movies and TV series, including Megan Park\u2019s second feature,\u00a0My Old Ass<\/em>, from Margot Robbie\u2019s LuckyChap Entertainment production banner, Netflix\u2019s series adaptation of The Hunting Wive<\/em>s, starring Malin Akerman and Brittany Snow, and cottage scenes in the popular gay hockey drama Heated Rivalry<\/em> for Crave and HBO Max.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to bring this adaptation of the standout Summer House<\/em> format to the market \u2013 and Muskoka offers the perfect, iconic Canadian setting to introduce Summer House Canada <\/em>and build on the franchise\u2019s momentum,\u201d Hendrik McDermott, managing director, international DTC (director to consumer) at NBCUniversal, said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\nSummer House Canada<\/em>\u00a0follows Hayu earlier ordering its first original series,\u00a0The Real Housewives of London<\/em>, which was recently renewed for a second season. \u201cSummer House <\/em>has become a beloved global franchise known for its authentic friendships, big personalities and the unforgettable moments that come from spending a summer together. We\u2019re excited to build on that by bringing the Canadian summer experience to fans worldwide,\u201d\u00a0Erin Haskett, President and Executive Producer, Lark Productions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLark Productions has longstanding ties with Universal Global Television via a first-look distribution deal, and recently has produced the Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent <\/em>local adaptation and the original police procedural Allegiance <\/em>via that partnership.<\/p>\n
