Also part of the lineup is a new movie from Spain\u2019s Albert Serra (<em>Afternoons of Solitude<\/em>) in an out-of-competition spot.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=3325\">The 2026 Emmy Nominations Spread the Love, but Not Far Enough<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nLocarno 2026, taking place Aug. 5-15, will also present new works from U.S. filmmakers Erin Vassilopoulos (<em>Superior<\/em>) and Vincent Grashaw (<em>Keep Quiet<\/em>), Senegal\u2019s Mamadou Dia (<em>Demba<\/em>), Portugal\u2019s Edgar P\u00eara (<em>Telepathic Letters<\/em>), Canada\u2019s Denis C\u00f4t\u00e9 (<em>Vic and Flo Saw a Bear<\/em>) and Wayne Wapeemukwa (<em>Luk\u2019Luk\u2019I<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMeanwhile, world premieres, some of this season\u2019s film festival favorites and classics will screen in Locarno\u2019s main Piazza Grande section, taking place on the town\u2019s main square set up with 8,000 seats. World premieres to be watched there include <em>Ni Vue, Ni Connue<\/em> (<em>All About Corinne<\/em>) by Marc Fitoussi, starring Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Bercot and Diane Kruger, Felix Randau\u2019s <em>Ich Ist ein Anderer<\/em> (<em>I Is Another<\/em>) with Claes Bang, Valerie Pachner and Susanne Wuest, and <em>Armony<\/em> by Dario Albertini, whose cast includes Asia Argento and Ornella Muti.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cReturning to Locarno with\u00a0<em>The House on the Moon<\/em>\u00a0feels like the stars have aligned,\u201d said Yeo in a statement. \u201cA few years ago, this felt like reaching for the moon \u2014 and we have. I\u2019m so grateful to our fantastic cast and crew for embarking on this journey with me and bringing a childhood dream to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOverall, the fest will screen 223 films, including 103 world premieres, four more than last year. The films originate from \u201cup to 69 countries of production and co\u2011production,\u201d organizers said. Locarno also highlighted a record\u00a07,759 submissions, up nearly 22 percent from 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLocarno disclosed that 25 percent of its features were directed by women, including five out of 17 films in the international competition, or 29.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\nGiona A. Nazzaro, Locarno\u2019s artistic director, described the program this way: \u201cAn adventurous\u00a0selection, full of surprises, which tackles the challenges of the present without ever sacrificing the pleasures of storytelling and entertainment.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe added: \u201cOurs is a\u00a0selection\u00a0of films deliberately set against the complexities of the present day, which explores and reflects on the transformations currently taking place within\u00a0cinema and in the wider audiovisual sector. Cinema, then \u2014 in all its forms and possibilities.
