He\u2019ll be directed by acclaimed German creative Thomas Ostermeier, whose last two London plays featured Cate Blanchett (in <em>The Seagull<\/em>) and Matt Smith (<em>An Enemy of the People<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe production will open in the autumn of next year. Norton said it is \u201ca privilege\u201d but \u201cpretty terrifying\u201d for anyone to take on Shakespeare\u2019s grief-stricken prince. \u201cBut with Thomas Ostermeier at the helm, I know I could not be in better hands,\u201d he continued. \u201cBoth this role and this director have intrigued me and challenged me over the years, and so I cannot wait to start this journey with Thomas and see where it takes us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOstermeier added: \u201cI am pleased to be revisiting\u00a0<em>Hamlet<\/em>\u00a0for the West End with the great stage actor, James Norton. It will be my first time directing Shakespeare in English, and I am excited to explore the original text in order to bring this new production to life.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=2692\">\u2018Supergirl\u2019: DC Studios Boss \u201cConfident\u201d in Strategy Despite Film Opening Below Expectations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cMy first\u00a0<em>Hamlet<\/em>\u00a0has been touring the world for 18 years,\u201d he said, in reference to the show that sees six performers take on around 20 roles, \u201cso I am honoured to have the opportunity to bring it here to London with James, who in my mind is a perfect Prince of Denmark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNorton\u00a0last performed on stage in Ivo Van Hove\u2019s acclaimed theatre production of Hanya Yanagihara\u2019s bestselling novel,\u00a0<em>A Little Life<\/em>.\u00a0 Onscreen, he is next appearing in Sam Mendes\u2019 four-film event\u00a0<em>The Beatles<\/em>\u00a0in the role of Brian Epstein, the Beatles\u2019 manager, alongside Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOstermeier\u00a0is one of the most influential figures in contemporary European theatre.\u00a0Since 1999, he has served as artistic director of the Schaub\u00fchne Berlin, where he has gained international acclaim for his innovative reinterpretations of classic works, alongside championing contemporary playwrights.
