\n\tSo, at Cannes Lions on Wednesday, she took the stage at the Debussy Theatre at the Palais des Festivals to a raucous reception to discuss such themes as cultural fluency and such questions as: What does it take for a story, a film, or a brand to move across cultures without losing what makes it matter? Her appearance was moderated by People Inc exec Leah Wyar.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDon\u2019t take audiences for granted\u201d was one of the pieces of advice, or personal learnings, she shared on stage. \u201cListen!\u201d Another one was that \u201cconfidence is about practice\u201d or like going to the gym. \u201cYou can\u2019t fake confidence\u201d and will not always have it, requiring moments to remind yourself of your value, skills and what you bring to the table, the star shared, adding: \u201cI have seen a lot of people meld.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the other tips she shared was the importance of authenticity, which the star argued includes not always being in full control. As such, she suggested that we not to strive for perfection but also accept some weaknesses and shortcomings.<\/p>\n

\n\tAsked about her next career goals, Chopra Jonas said it was to focus on how to \u201cin my English-language work bring that kind of variety to my characters that I have been able to do in India.\u201d She added: \u201cIn my Hindi-language career, I\u2019ve worked with all the best filmmakers, the best actors, I\u2019ve told amazing stories and done a variety of genres, whereas in America, in Hollywood, in my English-language work, I haven\u2019t really done it as much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPlus, figuring out the work-life balance of a working parent is another current focus for her, Chopra Jonas shared.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe is not afraid of change and disruption in the entertainment industry. \u201cEvolution is hard,\u201d Chopra Jonas said. \u201cBut I also like a challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe then pointed out some of the benefits of industry changes, such as the rise of foreign-language and subtitled content. \u201cMy mom loves Korean dramas,\u201d the superstar shared to laughter. <\/p>\n

\n\tAnd she mentioned Hollywood\u2019s current phenomenon, Curry Barker\u2019s Obsession<\/em>, mentioning how with technology, it has become easier for people to create. \u201cIf you wanted to get into filmmaking, you used to have to figure out what department you wanted to be in. It was really hard to get into the industry,\u201d Chopra Jonas said. Now, if you \u201cfeel like you have an idea, shoot it, put it on YouTube, and it can become Obsession<\/em>, the movie that just came out right now. What a wonderful time to be an entertainer, to be in the entertainment business!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe multi-hyphenate on Wednesday also shared how she decided to break down walls. \u201cI wanted more work, which had me as a lead, which had me doing parts that I don\u2019t think a lot of studios imagined an Indian actor to be,\u201d Chopra Jonas told the Cannes Lions crowd. \u201cSo I started producing my own movies. And I\u2019ve heard this from so many female colleagues of mine that when you want to move along, there\u2019s a glass ceiling that has been set for most women in entertainment. You just have to do it yourself, and that was very inspiring to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTalk of resetting expectations and opportunities led to questions about the star\u2019s upcoming movies. \u201cThis latest one, Reset<\/em>, is very exciting to me\u201d and sees her starring opposite another big name, she explained. \u201cOrlando Bloom and I have known each other for many, many years. We both worked with UNICEF for many years. We wanted to work together for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nReset<\/em> is a survival thriller directed by\u00a0Matt Smukler\u00a0(Wildflower<\/em>) and written by Jordan Rawlins. <\/em>
Chopra Jonas starsa as a woman who wakes up in the middle of the wilderness with no memory of how she got there, with her only chance at survival seeming to be a charming stranger (Bloom) who may not be who he says he is.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe star said she loves working as an actress and a producer, a role in which \u201cyou feel so involved in almost every department.\u201d How does she choose movies as a producer? \u201cI try not to follow trends\u201d but consider how a film will make people feel, she explained. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn comparison, when it comes to acting, \u201cthere\u2019s a freedom to knowing that a filmmaker like S.S. Rajamouli, one of India\u2019s most prolific filmmakers, has complete control,\u201d she shared. Chopra Jonas features in the cast of his upcoming Varanasi<\/em>, about a Shiva devotee who is sent on a mysterious mission to find an ancient cosmic artifact. \u201cThis is a really ambitious movie, and it\u2019s going to come out in April 2027,\u201d the star said.<\/p>\n

\n\tAsked about a good and a great film, Chopra Jonas had this to offer on Wednesday. \u201cA good movie is something you invest two hours in to watch \u2013 three hours if it\u2019s an Indian movie,\u201d she said, drawing laughter. \u201cAn event is something that you discuss, that shifts culture.\u201d <\/p>\n
