\nRicky Gervais\u2018 spirit animal is undoubtedly a cat. He\u2019s used that to conjure up new Netflix adult animated comedy series Alley Cats<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\nAlley Cats<\/em> follows \u201ca group of feral British cats from all walks of society, who seek companionship while ruminating on everyday life,\u201d its synopsis reads. \u201cFrom the funny to the absurd, the series is packed with Gervais\u2019 signature style of heart and social commentary that audiences have come to expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe standout piece of Alley Cats<\/em> thus far is its tagline: \u201cNine lives, zero fucks.\u201d You simply can\u2019t do better.<\/p>\n

\n\tEach of the six Alley Cats<\/em> episodes are 15 minutes long.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever been so excited about a trailer,\u201d Gervais, the show\u2019s creator, writer and director said in a statement shared with the media on Monday. \u201cI can\u2019t wait for everyone to get to know these cats.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tElliot Dear co-directs the cartoon. Gervais, Steven Hamilton Shaw, James Stevenson Bretton and Ben Lole executive produce, and Hugo Donkin produces. Tang Heng is production designer; Blink Industries is the animation studio.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Gervais, Alley Cats<\/em> also stars Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley and Diane Morgan. It features Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way.<\/p>\n

\n\tGervais\u2019 character is, of course, chubby and orange. Because for some reason that has come to equate \u201csarcastic TV cat\u201d in the tradition of Garfield and Heathcliff.<\/p>\n

\nAlley Cats<\/em> premieres on Aug. 7, 2026. Until then, catch the old Garfield and Friends<\/em> (1988) on Peacock \u2014 it holds up.<\/p>\n
