\nAmy Adams is opening up about why she rejected a \u201cgraphic\u201d sketch idea while hosting Saturday Night Live<\/em> in 2008.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar-nominated actress hosted the late night NBC show a few months after her family-friendly fairytale comedy Enchanted<\/em>, also starring James Marsden, hit theaters. So when SNL<\/em> castmember Andy Samberg pitched her the skit, she chose to turn it down to protect her young fans.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ll give you the gist without telling you the punchline,\u201d Adams said of the sketch during a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers<\/em>. \u201cIt was this couple [and] he got bit by a spider in the park, and she\u2019s like, \u2018Honey, I love you so much, and now that you\u2019re dying, is there any last wish?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Yes, I never got a chance to\u2026\u2019 And then said what could only be described as the most graphic thing that he wanted to do with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHost Seth Meyers told the Cape Fear<\/em> actress that Samberg had previously praised her for speaking up for herself and her image, as well as considering her young fans.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was so keenly aware of all the young girls that were watching Enchanted<\/em>,\u201d Adams explained. \u201cAnd I didn\u2019t want to be the princess singing about that particular act, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, on The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast<\/em>, Samberg shared that the skit in question would have featured a \u201cvery dirty\u201d duet. And though he said Adams thought it was \u201creally funny,\u201d she nicely explained that she \u201ccan\u2019t do that. Little girls are so obsessed with Enchanted <\/em>right now they will find this and it will be scarring for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNot long after, when they went to film the \u201cHero Song\u201d short for that SNL<\/em> episode, Samberg was able to fully understand where Adams was coming from.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWithin five minutes, a mother and her little girl walked up and the look on the little girl\u2019s face upon seeing Amy Adams, I was like, \u2018Oh, she was so right,’\u201d\u00a0the Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em> actor recounted. \u201cAnd it was very instructive for me. It\u2019s not something I even ever thought about in our line of work, you know what I mean? Like, she actually has an obligation and a responsibility to those kids, and she took it really seriously. And I remember being really impressed by that.\u201d<\/p>\n
