Sony Pictures\u2019 first look at <strong>Aaron Sorkin<\/strong>\u2019s <strong><em>The Social Network<\/em><\/strong> sequel was met with praise for\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Strong\u2018<\/strong>s portrayal of <strong>Mark Zuckerberg<\/strong> \u2014 particularly nailing the tech titan\u2019s voice. I\u2019m Its First Target<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tOpening in what looks like Middle-earth, <strong>Mikey Madison<\/strong>\u2018s Facebook whistleblower tells <strong>Jeremy Allen White<\/strong>\u2018s reporter, \u201cI want to make something clear\u2026\u201d and then proceeds to deliver a nearly incomprehensible sentence (\u201c<em>IHaveaHuncYourNottaFanofFacebook<\/em>\u201d) that the internet has been having fun with. The footage includes Strong\u2019s Zuckerberg turning into a malfunctioning android and concludes with a somber White saying of Madison\u2019s character, \u201cShe\u2019s disrupting\u201d \u2014 which has to be the biggest trailer groaner since <strong>Felicity Jones<\/strong> declared \u201cI rebel\u201d in the <em><strong>Rogue One<\/strong><\/em> teaser. The footage is also weirdly stuffed with popping camera flashbulb effects as if the film was set in the 1950s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tStory-wise, <em>The Social Reckoning<\/em> might have a challenge. The social media hellscape has become <em>so<\/em> much worse since the film\u2019s 2021 setting that fretting over the toxic and addictive algorithm used by your dad\u2019s preferred news feed now seems more quaint than pressing. <em>The Social Network<\/em> had such a breezy and engaging fleetness, a quality one associates with Sorkin\u2019s deft writing. So it\u2019s odd this sequel \u2014 sorry, \u201ccompanion piece,\u201d per the studio \u2014 directed by Sorkin instead of David Fincher, feels so deathly solemn. <\/p>\n<p>\n<strong><strong><span>WINNER<\/span><\/strong>:<\/strong> <strong>Emily Blunt<\/strong>. Every review of <strong><em>Disclosure Day<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 positive, negative, mixed \u2014 agrees: Blunt is terrific in her role as a Kansas City newswoman who suddenly finds herself possessing unusual powers and being thrust into a conspiracy. The film is also a win for <strong>Steven Spielberg<\/strong>, who seems poised to pull off at least a solid success. The <strong>Universal<\/strong>film is eyeing a $65 million opening and averaging 82 percent on Rotten Tomatoes (though many reviews are rather tempered in their praise).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor those on the fence, <em>Disclosure Day<\/em> is worth seeing in theaters because Spielberg directs the hell out of every scene. The 79-year-old filmmaker\u2019s warm, artful, clever storytelling fluidity remains unmatched. Just don\u2019t set your expectations too high or compare the film\u2019s third act to, say, <em><strong>Close Encounters<\/strong><\/em> (<strong>minor spoilers<\/strong>: shuffling USB drives, clips of UFOs shown on TV screens, and Blunt clutching a glowstick are a massive step down from the cinematic awe of the 1977 film\u2019s Devil\u2019s Tower finale).<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong><span>LOSER<\/span><\/strong>: <strong><em>Project Hail Mary<\/em> Fans<\/strong>: If you\u2019ve been waiting for the year\u2019s biggest non-video game adaptation \/ non-accused pederast pop star biopic box office hit, Amazon MGM\u2019s <em>Project Hail Mary,<\/em> to come to streaming \u2026 have a seat. The <strong>Ryan Gosling<\/strong> blockbuster is coming exclusively to a streaming service you do not have \u2014 <strong>MGM+<\/strong>, which makes <strong>Peacock<\/strong> look like <strong>Netflix<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=1696\">What Happened to \u201823 Jump Street\u2019?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n<em>Deadline<\/em> says a studio insider gave this reason as to why the movie isn\u2019t coming to Prime Video: \u201c<em>It\u2019s a horses for courses business decision at the streaming and theatrical studio. Different movies in the Amazon MGM verse go through different greenlight models, i.e.\u00a0<\/em>Project Hail Mary<em>\u00a0went through full windows including PVOD with MGM+ being the pay-one \u2026 Those movies that go from theatrical to Prime Video, are greenlit differently, often have their budgets covered by Prime and are monetized under a different model internally<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tEven Gosling\u2019s molecular biologist and Rocky the alien would require months of effort and several wipeboards to understand those sentences. We\u2019re sure they make perfect sense if you work in the industry, are high, and stare at them long enough. We suspect a greedy company just wants people to pay for another streaming service they don\u2019t want.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong><strong><strong><span>WINNER<\/span><\/strong>:<\/strong><\/strong> <strong>John Lithgow. <\/strong>With all those <strong>J.K. Rowling<\/strong> comments in media interviews over the last year, it\u2019s been a rocky stretch of press for HBO\u2019s <em>Harry Potter<\/em> star. But on Sunday, the 80-year-old became the oldest man ever to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for starring in <em>Giant<\/em> \u2014 53 years after his first Tony win. In addition, costume designer <strong>Qween Jean<\/strong> made history as the first openly trans person to win a Tony for <em><strong>Cats: The Jellicle Ball<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong><span>LOSER<\/span><\/strong>: <strong>Spencer Pratt<\/strong>: Karen Bass had terrible approval ratings. Even many Democrats\u00a0agreed that Pratt\u2019s gripes about L.A leadership were correct (even <strong>Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> agreed!) \u2014 and many also agreed Pratt\u2019s solutions were good ideas. Pratt won the only debate despite being a political novice. AI ads supporting Pratt\u2019s campaign were so innovative they made national headlines. And he <em>still didn\u2019t even come in second place<\/em>. Which either shows how impossible it is for any registered Republican to win in L.A., or shows that \u2014 regardless of circumstance \u2014 many just refuse to vote for somebody they think is a bit of a douche canoe.\u00a0Pratt seems to have kept his sense of humor about the loss, breaking his social media silence on Thursday by tweeting: \u201cAre they done counting yet?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong><strong><strong><span>WINNER<\/span><\/strong>:<\/strong><\/strong> <strong> <em>Love Island<\/em><\/strong>: The first few days of <em>Love Island<\/em> USA season eight were the biggest launch of any Peacock original ever (yes, more popular than even <em><strong>The Miniature Wife<\/strong><\/em>).
