\nJonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back on the beat with 24 Jump Street.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tThe latest sequel in the comedy film franchise is in the works at Sony Pictures, with Hill, Tatum and Ice Cube in talks to return, The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>has confirmed. <\/p>\n

\n\tRodney Rothman will direct the movie from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed 2012\u2019s 21 Jump Street<\/em> and 2014 sequel 22 Jump Street<\/em>, will return as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz.<\/p>\n

\n\tNo plot details have been shared, and it is unclear why the number 23 was skipped over for the current film\u2019s title. <\/p>\n

\n\tLord and Miller, who helmed this year\u2019s Ryan Gosling-led Amazon MGM Studios hit Project Hail Mary<\/em>, marked their feature directorial debuts with 21 Jump Street<\/em>, which had a script from Hill and Michael Bacall. It centered on police officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum), who go undercover as high school students in an attempt to infiltrate a drug ring. <\/p>\n

\n21 Jump Street<\/em> surpassed $200 million at the global box office. 22 Jump Street<\/em>, which saw the pair disguising themselves as college students, was an even bigger hit, collecting $331 million worldwide. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe films are based on the 21 Jump Street<\/em> series that premiered on Fox in 1987 and ran for five seasons. Johnny Depp, who had a cameo in the first movie, starred in the show that counted Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell as co-creators.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the years, there had been talked of a third 21 Jump Street<\/em> movie, including the possibility of a crossover between the Men in Black<\/em> and Jump Street<\/em> franchises, until the project was finally said to be dead.<\/p>\n

\n\tBack in 2024, Tatum said that a script for a third movie in the 21 Jump Street<\/em> series had been written a while back, with the actor singing its praises. \u201cYou know what, I\u2019m going to put some good juju out there, and I\u2019m going to say I would love to see\u00a023 Jump Street<\/em>,\u201d Tatum said at the time. \u201cI would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.\u201d <\/p>\n
