{"id":1394,"date":"2026-06-08T12:09:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T12:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=1394"},"modified":"2026-06-08T12:09:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T12:09:00","slug":"pink-kicks-off-2026-tonys-with-lady-marmalade-parody-boasting-megan-thee-stallion-neil-patrick-harris-and-dylan-mulvaney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=1394","title":{"rendered":"Pink Kicks Off 2026 Tonys With \u201cLady Marmalade\u201d Parody Boasting Megan Thee Stallion, Neil Patrick Harris and Dylan Mulvaney"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\nPink returned to the Moulin Rouge for a star-studded opening to the 2026 Tonys, singing Broadway-themed lyrics to her hit \u201cLady Marmalade\u201d cover from the movie musical\u2019s soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=1392\">\u2018Star Trek\u2019 60th\u00a0Anniversary\u00a0Celebration, Stars Set for Italian Global Series\u2019 Second Edition<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe singer began, though, by honoring a different, older musical: <em>Peter Pan<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSuspended high above the stage and twirling around, Pink sang \u201cI\u2019m flying\u201d before former Tonys host Neil Patrick Harris, known for his big opening numbers, interrupted her to wonder why she was performing such a dated show.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe flying twinks are all vampires now,\u201d Harris said, referencing top Tonys nominee <em>The Lost Boys<\/em>, which went into the night up for 12 awards.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI just want to show how much I love theater even though I\u2019ve never been on Broadway,\u201d Pink explained, as she flipped upside down, showing off some of her trademark acrobatics. \u201cI\u2019m just concerned people might be like, \u2018Why\u2019s Pink hosting the Tonys?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tShe belted a couple of lines from<em> Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables<\/em> and <em>Wicked<\/em>, lifting Harris off the ground with her legs during \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d from the last show.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tUltimately Harris encouraged Pink to just be herself, \u201cthe leading lady we all know you can be.\u201d But he quickly rallied a number of Broadway stars to help.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWith that, Pink began her main number, titled \u201cLeading Lady Marmalade,\u201d it featured the singer wearing an outfit similar to her costume from the music video for her hit cover from the movie musical, now a show on Broadway. Ahead of the performance, Pink had teased that her opening number would feature more than 170 performers onstage, with most of them coming from the nominated shows.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe song, which featured numerous references to nominated performers and shows featured lyrics like, \u201cDontcha, dontcha touch that remote\u201d; \u201cLiberation, Proof, Becky Shaw ce soir\u201d; \u201cAlecia Moore, Moore, Moore,\u201d; \u201cSchmiga, Schmiga doon doon doon\u201d; and \u201cSquibby squibby June,\u201d as the record-breaking Tony nominee from her seat sang, \u201cAll the parts I\u2019ve played, I slay them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPink was joined by Lea Michele, Dylan Mulvaney, <em>Ragtime<\/em>\u2018s Shaina Taub and Megan Thee Stallion, who reprised her<em> Moulin Rouge <\/em>role from earlier this year, which she had to exit early after health issues.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMegan rapped about \u201cbadass chicks from the Moulin Rouge,\u201d taking the Lil\u2019 Kim rap from the original song.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMulvaney was joined by Leiomy from <em>Cats: The Jellicle Ball<\/em> and sported a \u201cProtect the Dolls\u201d t-shirt.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLater, Harris ran out with a stuffed Paddington bear to which Pink said \u201cmaybe next year,\u201d a reference to the <em>Paddington<\/em> musical coming to Broadway, which has not been announced yet but is largely an open secret in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/uspropertymoves.com\/?p=1390\">John Waters, Billy Porter and Julio Torres Set For Second Season of \u2018Finding Fire Island\u2019 Series<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tPink received a standing ovation for the performance, which ended with everyone onstage.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tShe then launched into her monologue, poking fun at herself and honoring Broadway\u2019s best.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cFor some reason, I\u2019m your host, Pink,\u201d she said. \u201cI am here to celebrate the hardest working people in showbiz \u2026 mostly the people who sew Luke Evans into that corset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPink called herself the second biggest Broadway fan after her musical theater-obsessed daughter Willow.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tShe then talked about how this year\u2019s nominated shows were relevant to the current political climate.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThis year, we saw the worst parts of history repeating themselves,\u201d she began, as <em>Ragtime<\/em> and <em>Liberation<\/em> took the stage.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe country grew more divided, Pink said, amid <em>Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tAs \u201cour trans siblings started to lose more rights,\u201d Pink said, <em>Cats<\/em> returned with its <em>Jellicle Ball<\/em> revival.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPink later returned with bits involving Darren Criss, <em>Titanique<\/em> actress Marla Mindelle and three-time Tonys host Ariana DeBose who offered some hosting tips, including \u201cacrobatics\u201d and \u201ctear-away\u201d clothes, joking Pink could rip off her pants before DeBose did just that to the host.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPink later kicked off a mostly joke filled segment with strong comments about free speech.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe powers that be are closing in on the First Amendment.
