Oprah Winfrey is the latest star to take her act to Las Vegas‘ Sphere.

The mogul will launch Oprah Winfrey’s AHA from April 2-4, 2027 at the immersive venue that’s played host to residencies from the Eagles, Dead & Company, No Doubt and more.

The two-hour show will feature Winfrey live onstage with a number of special performances from guests designed to take the audience on a journey of wonder, joy and the “AHA.”

In a statement and promotional video for her AHA event, Winfrey said she was inspired by U2’s own Sphere residency.

“‘AHA’ is a dream that came to me as I sat in awe at the opening night of U2 at the Sphere, mesmerized
by the possibilities of how the space could be used as a tool for creating greater awareness and
understanding of ourselves and our connection to each other,” she said. “Creating this experience has
felt like the culmination of what I’ve spoken about and worked towards my entire life.”

Winfrey will be joined onstage for the AHA shows by seven-time Grammy winner Jacob Collier; poet and acclaimed author Ocean Vuong, whose book The Emperor of Gladness was recently featured in Winfrey’s book club; musician Ajeet; and gospel singer Wintley Phipps.

The show will feature musical direction and original music from Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter, Grammy-winning musician and vocal director Jason White and Grammy-nominated composer, producer and electronic artist Jon Hopkins as well as writing from Oscar-winning Moonlight screenwriter Tarell Alvin McCraney, a MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient who currently serves as artistic director of Geffen Playhouse, and original works by artist Es Devlin and the Plum Village Monks.

The producing team involves director Ethan Tobman and the Emmy-winning founder and CEO of Silent House Group Baz Halpin. Presented by Live Nation, the event is executive produced by Winfrey along with producer of The Life You Want tour and co-founder of Godmothers bookstore, Jennifer Rudolph Walsh; Harpo Entertainment’s Emmy-winning executive producer Tara McNally Montgomery and Emmy-winning Fulwell Entertainment co-founder and partner Ben Winston; social entrepreneur Andrew Maxwell Mangino and consulting producer and Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp.

Tickets start at $145. Presale sign-up and weekend packages are able to reserve on AHAlive.com, with ticket bundles and hotel experiences available through Vibee during the official presale beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. PT/ 1 p.m. ET. The general on-sale date for tickets is Sept. 25, starting at 10 a.m. PT.

The Sphere has built its programming strategy around live events: Concerts, mostly, with residencies from the likes of U2 and Backstreet Boys attracting much of the attention.

But when there isn’t a live event, the venue has been developing a slate of original programming that can run all day and night, with a few 4D tricks up its sleeve too. The Sphere’s first original was a documentary, Postcard From Earth, from director Darren Aronofsky. An adaptation of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz followed, with a tornado recreated inside the venue, and flying moneys soaring above the crowd.

Next up will be an adaptation of Rocky Horror Picture Show, arriving next year.

Still, a weekend led by Winfrey may be another strategy the venue pursues, thinking beyond the films and concerts to larger experiential fare.

And with two more Spheres set to open in the coming years — one in Abu Dhabi and another just outside Washington, D.C. — there will be plenty of opportunities for similar programming to develop and perhaps be recreated.
