The longtime host of Sábado Gigante is returning to Univision with a new variety show, Gigantes con Don Francisco, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The new Gigantes will be something of a lighter workload from Francisco’s old days — the plan is for “a series of special programs featuring interviews, surprises, nostalgia and unforgettable reunions,” per the Spanish-language U.S.-based broadcaster. Though it will not be a weekly series, and certainly won’t run for five decades, Gigantes con Don Francisco will lean hard into Sábado Gigante, which Francisco hosted for more than 50 years.

Gigantes con Don Francisco will premiere in October on Univision — a specific premiere date is not yet ready to be announced, nor is a guest lineup. Episodes of Gigantes con Don Francisco will be available on ViX the day after their broadcast debut.
 
“Returning to Univision brings a sense of emotion and nostalgia, but above all, it is an opportunity to reconnect with the audience that accompanied us for so many years and with many of the great artists who were part of our history. It will be a reunion between what we experienced together and who we are today. I am very happy to reconnect with you,” Francisco said in a (translated) statement.

Gigantes con Don Francisco “will bring together some of the most influential Latin personalities for intimate and meaningful conversations,” according to Univision. Francisco gets a house band and will give away cash prizes and a car.
