Tom Hardy will remain with the MobLand cast for a third season — the official word was handed down on Thursday with a renewal for the Paramount+ series.

The streamer’s headline on its announcement: “THE HARRIGANS AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE.” That includes their fixer Harry da Souza (Hardy), the press release specified. MobLand also stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as crime family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan; Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Janet McTeer, Jordi Mollà and Toby Jones star in supporting roles.

MobLand season two is still weeks away from premiering — it debuts on Friday, Sept. 18 — the early season three renewal is a vote of confidence in the series and a wise way to put the Hardy drama to bed. MobLand will roll out a new episode each Friday through its season two finale on Nov. 20.

Hardy had clashed with producers on the series, THR reported in May, including executive producer Jez Butterworth and others at David Glasser’s 101 Studios, the production company behind MobLand, which is filmed across the U.K.

“He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” the source says about Hardy’s on-set behavior on season two. The source adds: “He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

At the time, it was unclear if Hardy would be welcomed back should there be a season three.

Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller and Star Trek: Nemesis actor Patrick Stewart have also discussed difficulties working with Hardy.

“Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer,” Miller said of his experience. “Whereas Charlize (Theron) was incredibly disciplined — a dancer by training, which told in the precision of her performance — and always the first one on set.”

In the upcoming MobLand season two, the Harrigans “struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire,” according to the Paramount synopsis. Da Souza, meanwhile, “must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify.”

“As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy,” it concludes.
