‘Tis the season for two new Roku holiday romantic comedies.

The Roku Channel confirmed today it has added two new original films to its seasonal roster for later this year: Second Chance Holiday starring Ayesha Curry and Matthew Daddario, and The Holiday Spark starring Joey Graziadei (in what marks The Bachelor breakout’s first feature film role) and Jamie Chung.

The former casts Curry as dating expert Chelsey, who is determined to break her so-called “curse” of always getting dumped during the holiday season. But when fate reunites her with a former flame from high school, played by Daddario, she wonders if her bad luck might just be the universe’s way of leading her back to first love.

Second Chance Holiday was directed by Maxwell McGuire from a script by Erin Muroski. McGuire has emerged as a prolific holiday helmer after having directed A Wild West Christmas, Unwrapping Christmas: Olivia’s Reunion and Tina’s Miracle, Falling Like Snowflakes, Romance With a Twist, Yes, Chef! Christmas, My Christmas Guide and Christmas by Design in recent years.

Muse Entertainment produced in association with Motion Entertainment, A WPP Media Company. Jonas Prupas, Aren Prupas, Joel. S Rice and Michael Barbuto served as executive producers for Muse Entertainment while Chet Fenster executive produces for Motion Entertainment.

The leading role marks a significant moment for Curry, who initially pursued acting as a teenager by landing roles in Hannah Montana, Gary Unmarried and Good Luck Charlie. She returned to her passion in recent years — after having a family with her NBA superstar husband Stephen Curry and building out her empire with Sweet July as well as various food-focused projects like Family Food Night — with starring roles in A Black Lady Sketch Show, Irish Wish opposite Lindsay Lohan and Joy to the World. She also had a voice role in the animated pic GOAT.

Second Chance Holiday marks her first No. 1 on the call sheet. Daddario is best known for his work in Shadowhunters, and his resume also includes starring roles in Why Women Kill, Cabin Fever and the recent Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story.

The Holiday Spark follows what happens when perpetually single firefighter Dean, played by Graziadei, enlists children’s book illustrator Laura, played by Chung, to help plan an epic holiday party for his firehouse. Throughout the planning process, they begin to question their views on romance and the possibility of love at first spark.

Rhonda Baraka directed from a script by Mary Kate Hegarty. Like McGuire, she, too, has a history of leading holiday projects after having directed Mistletoe & Matrimony, Christmas of Yes, A Christmas Spark, You Light Up My Christmas, Our Dream Wedding, Chandler Christmas Getaway, A Baby for Christmas and more. She also wrote and directed the Fallen Angels Murder Club franchise. James Suttles and Jason Winn produced The Holiday Spark, which is A Wild Winn Pictures / SuttleFilm production in association with FOX Entertainment Studios for Roku and distributor FOX Entertainment Global.

The project also marks a moment for Graziadei, who broke out as a runner-up on season 20 of The Bachelorette. He was then plucked by producers to topline season 28 of The Bachelor. He then shimmied his way onto the 33rd season of Dancing With the Stars and exited the dance floor with the mirrorball trophy.

“Acting in my first feature film has been a dream come true and such an exciting next chapter for me. The Holiday Spark is filled with so much heart, and I feel incredibly lucky that this is the project I get to make my debut with,” said Graziadei in a statement. “Working alongside Jamie and our talented cast and crew was an amazing experience. I learned so much. I can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with this story and kick off the holiday season with us.”

Chung is a veteran star with dozens of credits including Everyone is Doing Great, The Hunting Party, Accused, Dexter: New Blood, Big Hero 6: The Series, Lovecraft Country, The Gifted, Gotham, Once Upon a Time, Believe and more.

Both Roku originals are being overseen by Morgan Pichinson and Sabrina Lyall on behalf of the streamer. The titles are part of an ongoing push for seasonal tentpoles. Roku has seen success for its holiday rom-com offerings with every title released since 2024 ranking among the service’s top 10 titles during its opening month, per data from Roku.

“The holiday season is one of the biggest moments of the year for streaming, and we’re excited to expand our growing collection of Roku Original holiday movies,” said Roku head of originals Brian Tannenbaum. “These two films offer the warmth, humor, and romance audiences return to every holiday season, and we look forward to sharing them with viewers later this year.”
