The emotions were running high this week after the villa experienced fallout from movie night and then several Islanders were dumped from the show ahead of Sunday night’s finale.
Following the second episode of movie night, the Islander’s eyes were completely opened to what went down behind their backs throughout their time on the show, from lies to shady behavior to hurtful comments. This led several of the boys, as well as Kenzie, to go on an apology tour for their actions. But just when the villa was starting to see peace again, this season’s Red Wedding arrived when host Ariana Madix announced a massive dumping.
This all came after week four’s drama, which included the boys’ return from Casa Amor that got very heated between the OG and new girls, rapper Megan Thee Stallion hosting a cake-themed challenge and the first night of move night where secrets started being revealed.
Below, The Hollywood Reporter is recapping the standout moments from week five of Love Island USA season eight. And check out all of THR‘s season eight coverage and interviews here, as well as the week one, week two, week three and week four recaps.

Movie Night: The Messy Sequel
Logo textHopefully, the popcorn stayed hot because the tea definitely was during episode 26. After several Islanders got exposed during part one in the previous episode, the best was yet to come as movie night continued on Thursday.
The cast saw several more video montages, specifically Corbin’s commentary about the villa girls while he was in Casa Amor, Kenzie’s lies when she was exploring Corbin and Caleb at the same time and Sincere being insincere to Melanie while he was getting to know Amora in Casa Amor. The latter clips definitely caused some turbulence in the villa, notably with Melanie calling out Sincere for his shady actions. Several of the other couples also had some tough conversations after what they witnessed on movie night.

The Villa’s Red Wedding
Logo textThe villa was feeling a little too packed with 19 Islanders, so viewers knew this season’s Red Wedding was coming, and episode 27 happened to be the tragic day. After a recoupling left Jen vulnerable and single, she was ultimately dumped from the show. However, she wasn’t the only castmember leaving the villa that night.

Host Ariana Madix later revealed that the remaining Islanders, in their pairs, would pick which two couples they think were the least compatible. After everyone offered their explanations for their choices, Gal, Amora, Caleb and Jaiden received the most votes, resulting in them going home.
But the dumpings didn’t stop there, as more Islanders got dumped the following night after the karaoke contest.

The Islanders Get Musical
Logo textThe Islanders tested their singing abilities during episode 29 with a karaoke contest hosted by Madix. Each couple took a turn up on stage, giving it their all for their fellow Islanders. Melanie and Sincere performed “You’re the One That I Want” by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Kayda and Zach sang “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, Kenzie and Dylan performed “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and Kiki Dee, Corbin and Parmida sang “Dilemma” by Kelly Rowland and Nelly, KC and Tierra performed “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Carl and Aniya performed “Señorita” by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, and Trinity and Bryce sang “No Air” by Jordin Sparks.
At the end of the game, the Islanders voted on who was their favorite, with Kenzie and Dylan ultimately taking the crown. But as Madix has always said, never get too comfortable. She shocked the Islanders with a twist at the end of the karaoke contest, revealing that another couple would be dumped from the villa.
After she shared the results of the latest fan vote, Kayda and Zach, Corbin and Parmida, and Kenzie and Dylan were at the bottom as the least compatible couples. Thankfully for the latter, they were saved because they won the karaoke contest. The remaining couples then had to decide whether to save Corbin and Parmida or Kayda and Zach, and the night ended with Corbin and Parmida going home.
