For the drama, Smith will take on the role of cunning private investigator James Pierce “who journeys to a centuries-old villa on Lake Como to find Gregory Barclay, a ruthless American billionaire who has vanished without a trace. When James arrives, he discovers his real client is Rosalind, Barclay’s beautiful new wife, and that everyone in Barclay’s glamorous inner circle has something to hide. James tries to keep the case professional, but his growing attraction to Rosalind puts the investigation at risk.”

Smith narrates directly to the listener, who steps into the role of Rosalind.

The Wolf is a dangerous, sexy, seductive murder mystery. The listener is dropped into a very glamorous world,” Smith says in a statement. “I think this series is for anyone who loves a good murder mystery, and also loves a bit of eroticism in their murder mysteries.”

“Matt has this incredible ability to make you root for even his most complicated characters, which made him the perfect person to guide listeners through this story,” says Caroline Spiegel, founder and CEO of Quinn.

Taking on the role was an “interesting challenge,” Smith says. “There’s a great team around you at Quinn. I think there’s something really liberating about telling a story in this way, in this form, and in this tone.”

In typical Quinn fashion, the app has been teasing Smith being a narrator on social media. In one post, the app shows a stuffed dragon wearing pink Quinn headphones with the caption, “The Rogue Prince is coming to your headphones.” (Smith portrays Prince Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon.)

After launching in 2021, Quinn notably began enlisting Hollywood talent last year to help share audio erotica that “felt approachable and not intimidating.”

Described as being “made by women, for the world,” Hollywood stars who have narrated the steamy stories include Chris Briney, Andrew Scott, Manny Jacinto, Tom Blyth, Jamie Campbell Bower, Victoria Pedretti, Jesse Williams, Lucien Laviscount, Thomas Doherty, Katherine Moennig, Heated Rivarly stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, Costa D’Angelo, Tyriq Withers, Shawn Hatosy and Off Campus stars Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn.

A preview of episode one of The Wolf is available now on Quinn. The full first two episodes will premiere at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 1.
